AERA Energy awards CGT contract for two PMNG membrane nitrogen generators

June 23rd, 2010:

Bakersfield, CA. AERA Energy recently awarded Compressed Gas Technologies Inc. the contract to supply two membrane nitrogen generators for their Bakersfield, Ca facility. The nitrogen generators are rated for 20 scfm at 95% purity. The units were supplied in NEMA4 enclosures for outdoor installation. CGT Inc. was chosen because of their ability to ship the units within Aera Energy's required time frame.

Aera Energy LLC (Aera), a California limited liability company, is one of California's largest oil and gas producers, accounting for more than 25 percent of the state's production. With headquarters in Bakersfield, most of Aera's production is centered in the San Joaquin Valley. The company also has oilfield operations in the L.A. Basin and in Ventura and Monterey Counties. Aera produces approximately 156,000 barrels of oil and 46 million cubic feet of natural gas each day and has proved oil and gas reserves equivalent to approximately 755 million barrels of oil.

The workforce needs of Aera are provided by Aera Energy Services Company (Aera Services), a Delaware corporation. *Aera and Aera Services provide employment for 1,200 people and hundreds of contractor companies.

The company, which began operating as Aera Energy LLC on June 1, 1997, consists of the California onshore and offshore exploration and production (E&P) assets previously operated by CalResources LLC (a former Shell Oil Company affiliate), Mobil Exploration & Producing U.S. Inc. (now an Exxon Mobil Corporation affiliate), and ARCO.

Today Aera is jointly owned by Shell and ExxonMobil and is operated as a stand-alone company through its own board of managers (directors). The California-based refining, retail petroleum marketing and pipeline operations of Shell and ExxonMobil are not included in Aera.

The company and its owners represent almost 100 years of industry leadership and commitment to California. As a leader in the industry of the 21st century, Aera is characterized by its excellent safety and environmental performance, innovative business practices, application of cutting-edge technology, dynamic company culture, and active community involvement. With strong assets and solid financial and operating performance, Aera is well positioned for the future.

In 2002 Aera's Belridge Producing Complex won the prestigious North American Maintenance Excellence (NAME) Award for its maintenance and reliability program and results. In 2004 Aera's North Midway Sunset Unit was awarded a NAME Award. Aera is the first E&P company to win the award previously given only to manufacturing organizations. In the manufacturing industry, the NAME Award has been compared to the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award.
